We stumbled upon the website nearlyweds.com while surfing the other night. It’s a great site with loads of different apps that you can incorporate into your planning to help with your wedding day.

One of our faves is the Wedding Colour Palette Chooser.

You can start with one colour, then it narrows it down to that colour base, then down further to a clour tint. Then Voila! You have your custom colour palette for your wedding. Amy uses a similar site like this to choose colour pallets for her stationery designs, but she’ll tell you that secret in an upcoming post!

Finding your Wedding Fragrance || Vancouver Wedding Photographers

Our sense of smell is an amazing thing. There are scents that may remind you of your childhood, your first date, a fab vacation… the list goes on, well you can add another memory to the list, your wedding day. When choosing a new fragrance for your wedding day, wear one of your favorites or a new one that your bride or groom likes – this is no time for surprises {or sneezes}! If you’re determined to wear something new, be sure to start experimenting the perfume at least a month before the wedding so that you are certain it is a scent you’ll both enjoy.

Have you ever smelt a fragrance on someone and thought I must find out what she is wearing! Well before you rush out and buy that perfume know that it will always smell different on you. Give the fragrance at least ten minutes after you have applied it. In which time the alcohol will have evaporated and the blending of the fragrance with your own skin is chemistry will give you a true impression. If you would like to test one or two other scents, apply one to your other wrist then wait, and then apply the third fragrance to the inside bend of your elbow. When you are shopping never try more than three scents at one, as your nose will lose its ability to tell the difference.

Here are some great tips and ideas in selecting a new perfume for your wedding day.

· Apply the same fragrance in all its many forms and layer it — starting with the bath and ending with your perfume application to the pulse points (wherever you feel the beat of your heart).

· For an especially romantic effect, apply fragrance to the palms of your hands.

· If you’re wearing fashionable sheer lacy gloves take a cue from Queen Elizabeth I and accent them with fragrances and perfumes.

· Just before you put on your veil, spray fragrance and surround yourself in a aura of scent. Then, spray the same fragrance on your veil to create a magical aura of scented pleasure.

Glossary of Fragrance Families: Which family are you?

Citrus Family
Citrus family oils come from ripe fruit peels. They are extracted by pressing or steam distillation. These are the most volatile, thus disperse quickly. They have fresh, zesty aromas that blend well with floral and spice families.

Fruits Family
These fragrances come3 from fruits themselves, as well as from leaves, stems, and seeds. This category includes tree fruits and vine fruits. The scents are usually quite strong and long lasting.

Floral Family
As, the name suggests, this family comes from a large variety of flowering plants. They stay long as the oils evaporate more slowly than citrus and herbaceous oils. They are expressed or steam distilled from petals. Some are extracted with solvents. Floral family is the most versatile of all; they blend well with oils from most groups.

Woods Family
These oils are extracted from various parts of trees, including roots needles, and the wood itself. Woodsy aromas can be sweet, bitter, green, or earthy. They are among the slowest evaporating and longest lasting oils. Woods blend very well with floral and spices.

Herbs and Spices Family
These oils are steam distilled from leaves, roots, barks, seeds, and flowering tops of trees and herbal plants. They are strong, slow evaporating, and long lasting. Herbs and spices blend well with oils from citrus and woods family.

Do you use iPhone apps to plan your Wedding? || Vancouver Wedding Photographers

Well it’s on my list but I’m stuck in one of those, you know, contracts… But next on my list of things to buy is an iPhone. I can’t imagine how much I’ll blog, tweet, and facebook when that time comes!

In the meantime I do browse the app. store from time to time and I was surprised how many wedding apps there were. 261 apps are listed, 81 of those being free apps. They range in price from .99¢ all the way up to $29.99 {ouch!}
