Kirsten + Joey = Married! || Vancouver Wedding Photographer

The weather has finally changed for the better and it was time for my first wedding of the season. Joey and Kirsten are well let’s face it, so much in love and a dream to photograph. A backyard wedding with family and close friends in attendance was the order of the day and with only the phrase “where are my socks” ringing in our ears I would say it was picture perfect. Here are just a few of my favourites.

A few details before the wedding starts, Scarlett Ballantyne made the girls {and Joey} look gorgeous. I think we were all in love with the tent and chandelier, and the cake! Oh the cake that was not supposed to “slip” in the car, but dang that gravity! Mom to the rescue and the cake looked fab.

Grooms take note, one min you may be sweeping the dance floor before your wedding, the next you’ll be in your tux ready to walk down the aisle! Joey you cleaned up great!

I LOVE this photo Joanna captured of Kirsten’s mom looking at her in her wedding dress.
They were so cute saying “no don’t look at me you’ll make me cry!”

Okay this ceremony will go down as one of my favourites and one that had the most memorable lines,
“Joey would you place the ringer on Kirsten’s finger.”

I think this is my fave photo of the day. We’re so lucky to live in BC, where we can step from the forest to the beach in five minutes. Love it!

I love these two! Here’s our two views, Joanna’s on the left and mine on the right!

Kirsten you are absolutely stunning.

So it was very important for Joey and Kirsten to get married on June 25, that date didn’t work out locally so they did the next best thing. A little secret wedding in Disney World. They kept it quiet from most of their guests and then announced it after dinner, everyone was so happy and it just added an extra little sparkle to the day.

Okay we know the shoe game, but I’ve never seen audience members play along!
Joey’s dad, Frank, raised his shoe when the question was asked who do you think will change the diapers when you have kids?

Oh the camera. I don’t know who brought it but it made the rounds.
It looked real but when you tried to take a photo it gave you a shock. I want one!!!

Best first dance ever.

When Joey said, “man after this day I think a piggy back is in order.” And Kirsten looked at him and said, “hop on.” You just have to love them. Here’s wishing you so many years of happiness.

Style Me Pretty Blog || Vancouver Wedding Photographer

After attending the Cinderella Bridal Show on the weekend I realized how many brides in the Lower Mainland don’t know about my very favourite blogs and websites! I thought before the busy wedding season starts {and it looks like it’s going to be a busy one} I would give you a quick run down on a few of my faves.

First up is Style Me Pretty. Filled with beautiful photos and DIY projects that will make your wedding guests wonder where you came up with these amazing ideas. As a photographer and invitation designer I kind of describe myself as someone who has creative ideas with A.D.D. give me a topic and I’ll think of a bunch of ideas! I think that’s because I L.O.V.E. seeing details of each couple at their wedding. We can go to a bunch of weddings in our lifetimes but maybe only a few will stand out in our memories…Make one of those yours!

Fellas, I’ll apologize now that your ladies will be absent for a few hours, ’cause this blog is, well, virtual bliss and can kind of make the time stand still when you’re planning a wedding! You’ll get a bunch of ideas and make sure you follow the links in the stories if you like the photos. That’s how I find other sites I’ll feature in the next few days. I find that in Canada we kind of look to the States for shopping and whatnot, they really focus on businesses in North America so it’s a perfect example of new vendors and ideas for your big day. Enjoy and let me know if you enjoy the site!

Details at the Mascarade || Vancouver Wedding Photographers

Lisa Gregory Special Events asked us to come out last weekend to shoot some details of a fabulous wedding they had designed and were coordinating that evening. We were so giddy like kids when we saw the bold colour palette used for Justin and Cherise’s wedding. Rich reds and vibrant blues and purples were gorgeous against the garden backdrop of the Cecil Green House on the UBC grounds.

As a surprise for the bride and groom, an airplane flew overhead just before the ceremony with a banner saying “Justin & Cherise Love Forever”. Epic.

The masquerade masks for the reception were beautiful and each guest received one on their chair.

Bravo on the colour Justin and Cherise!

Of course the venue speaks for its self but with the added decor it was magical.

Exotic Style || Vancouver Wedding Photographers

So with our next bridal style for Lisa Gregory‘s Eye Candy Book, was Exotic and our minds wandered to the beaches of the Caribbean, Cuba and Thailand. But wait a minute, we were in the midst of one of the most beautiful June’s Vancouver had experienced in many years and we had a gorgeous bride, Hiba who was just married on June 19th to Dustin.

We wanted a beachy, natural look on Hiba and Jen did a fabulous job with her makeup, with Hiba’s naturally curly hair {lucky!} Jen added some orchids and we were off to Crescent Beach for sunset. Lisa gave us an incredible bouquet for this photo shoot, the oranges, yellows and greens were so vibrant along with the scattering of seashells made it look beautiful and tropical.

The sunset was stunning and Hiba had many admirers stoping on the boardwalk to watch her photo shoot. It was a very magical night as we lit an aisle of candles in lanterns. {Lots of fun with a bic lighter on a windy beach!} Thanks Hiba for showing us your amazing style once again!

The gorgeous Vancouver summer light and our beautiful bride Hiba.

The lanterns just add that little extra touch of sparkle to the photos, and we love sparkle!

LOVE this photo!

Candid Style || Vancouver Wedding Photographers

Sometimes you just want to go to a location and take great photos with a couple, be Candid with them. This is exactly what we did with Lisa and Shawn Gregory. This is photo shoot number five for Lisa’s upcoming book titled Eye Candy.

We met up at Cafe Planet Java and on a beautiful sunny July night what’s better then a Chocolate Milkshake? Every couple we have photographed has been amazing but this has been our first “married” couple so the chemistry and cute looks between Lisa and Shawn were so easy to capture. Married for 12 years they are pros at wedding photos, having married each other three times! Thanks Lisa and Shawn you were superstars.

Okay, okay the secret is out {and it wasn’t much of a secret} Jen and I love shoes!

Our fave photo of the night!

This cat so wanted to be a part of the shoot! Lisa smelling the flowers for Jen! Shawn with his ladies, yup they are a handful!!

When we were leaving, there just happened to be a convertible Camaro parked beside us.
When the owners came back with their dog Max Lisa jumped into the front seat of the car for this sweet shot! Love it!!

For all of the shoots Lisa has created all of the bouquets. Including this one. They have been gorgeous!
