It was a beautiful sunny day when Mel and Mike said their I dos. I love, love, loved her dress and I think they both smiled all day. Thanks to Weddingbells who featured them today on their website.

I was so happy to see another sunny day for a wedding. Natasha and Keith’s wedding to be exact, you may remember back in the Spring they were the winners in the Weddings in BC contest, and well, they won me! A wedding photography package and engagement session. If their engagement session was going to be any signal of how their wedding was going to be, it was going to be an amazing day. {Sorry you couldn’t ride your motorcycle down the aisle Keith, but we got some good photos on it!}
Keith and Natasha met in middle school at Pacific Academy and their first date was when they were 16. They went to Metrotown on the Skytrain to go bowling. Fast forward to last year and Keith proposed in Stanley Park at Prospect Point after getting their hair and nails done! {Okay that’s an awesome guy!}
Natasha, who is a nurse at BC Children’s Hospital, got ready with her sisters and friends at her and Keith’s place in Vancouver. The girls looked fabulous and Natasha even made everyone’s fabric flowers for their hair. Keith, who is the head instructor at UBC Aquatic Centre, arrived with his Groomsmen and a Vancouver Trolly. I don’t think there would have been a limo large enough for this bridal party! {Oh and special thanks to Natasha’s brother for driving my car over so I could take some photos in the Trolly. Thank You! Thank You!} Brock House is a beautiful venue and when the leaves are just starting to fall on the ground it kinda makes it stunning. Natasha said that the most unexpected moment of the day was when a spider ran across the wedding license while she was signing it and Keith jumped back refusing to kill it. {I’m so glad I didn’t see it! eep}
Here are just a few of my favourites, yes just a few!
You know my love for shoes and these ones so passed the test!
It would have been a tight squeeze in a limo, so call in the trolly.
After the tea ceremony, a quick change back into her wedding dress. These girls are pros!
I love the group photo when I say I want to see something fabulous, they knew exactly what to do.
Details make the day, {swoon} Natasha’s mom made all the poms on the chairs out of fabric, gorgeous. The bouquets were stunning, muted colours, and the beautiful pin that Natasha and her Mom found for her something old, was so pretty. Thinking ahead, blankets were available to guests just in case a bit of a wind kicked up from the ocean view.
I think everyone knows I love a good jumping photo by now and y’all take the cake! I’m always amazed at how high everyone can jump!
Y’all were so fantastic, and we only had 45 minutes together. It was like a whirlwind photo session!!
Okay if you guys don’t hang this one on your wall, I’m hanging it on mine! I LOVE this photo of you two.
Natasha the mailbox wins the detail award from me for the BEST idea to keep all the cards together! Brilliant!!
I have never seen a Lion Dance so up close before, I’m really amazed how much personality they have in their faces! It was awesome!
And just a little sugar fix before everyone leaves. The Storm Trooper cake pops were pretty amazing.
Natasha’s advice for anyone getting married is to, “have someone else be in charge of all the day of coordinating – my wedding coordinator was so on top of everything and I did not have to think about or answer any questions!” Hope you have a fantastic honeymoon in Mexico!

Oh there’s so much I can say about Justine and Amos, they were my vintage with a modern kick, bride and groom. Just my style, I was looking forward to their wedding day probably as much as they were! I remember their engagement session, they were a bit shy and saying, “we’re really not sure what to do, you’ll have to help us with poses.” Well fast forward to the wedding day and I don’t know if they practiced or watched a lot of Top Model but they were calm and cool, ready for photos and so ready to DANCE! {More on that later}
They met at work when they both worked at the same law firm for a couple of years. Justine says, “Our firm had a Breakfast Club every Friday morning and Amos and I would often end up arriving before our co-workers. That is where I got to know him and his humour, good nature and blue eyes.” Amos said he is attracted to how sweetly outspoken Justine is, “she says what is on her mind and calls a spade a spade.” This is how you know you have found an amazing guy, Justine moved into Amos’s neighbourhood and before she got cable, Amos kindly invited her over to watch The Hills at his house so she wouldn’t have to miss any episodes. {Sorry ladies Amos is now married!!}
So after a tricky week of on and off rain, the wedding day was here and so was the sunshine and almost summer like temperatures. It was a day that went so fast, Justine looked stunning and Amos looked so GQ. Their wedding party was FAN-TAS-TIC. Holla’ to all of you for making an amazing day for Justine and Amos, creating memories that will last a life time and looking so awesome in the photos, I had a hard time narrowing them down to just these ones.
The guys got ready at the Shangri-La Hotel which is fantastic for photos, thanks to Sam my second shooter for the day.
Meanwhile, the girls were at the Loden. When I saw Justine’s dress hanging on my favourite hangers I knew this day was going to rock. Oh and the shoes.
Love this photo of Justine.
The girls were given assorted colours that Justine liked and they could pick their dresses.
I loved that because they could pick the dress that suited their personal style.
Okay it was HOT in the Chapel at the Burnaby Village Museum. But like I said to Sam, they didn’t have air conditioning back in the olden days I guess they are really staying true to the times.
Justine and Amos got engaged in Napa last November on the day before Justine’s birthday. Amos planned a surprise trip for Justine’s 30th to San Francisco and the Napa Valley. After a picnic lunch at Barnett Winery, overlooking the Napa Valley, he proposed. {Again ladies he’s taken.}
One of my faves from the day.
Pink bus to match the pink shoes? Yeah I made that happen.
This is how I want every bride, groom and bridal party to feel while we’re taking photos. We’re with you for a few hours so no stress and a lot of laughs. {Hopefully, not a strongly worded letter, right Lyndsay?!}
Okay, so the guys matched their ties to the girls dresses, then as an added bonus matched their socks to the ties that matched the dresses. Brilliant.
Shoe love. Justine’s Kate Spade pink peeps and Jenny’s black shoes {I didn’t look at the name boo on me} with peacock feather clips.
The best photos I think come when you are relaxed, chilled and really enjoying the day. Case and point above.
Justine’s dress had pockets. Amos’s pants had pockets. Could I pass up this photo opportunity? Nope.
Justine added a lot of D.I.Y. touches to the reception which I LOVE and wish more people would do. The mini table number flags in the fish bowls that had the gorgeously wrapped chocolate bar favours. How did everyone find their seats? You found your button with your name on it and on the bottom stamped was your table number. The genius thing was everyone wore their buttons so you didn’t have to ask “sooo, what’s your name?” all night.
Their favourite moment of the day was sitting down to dinner together and getting some alone time while still surrounded by their friends and family. Little Madeleine in the bottom right corner of this photo, was their unexpected moment of the night. “We were surprised and delighted that our friends, Lisa and Kevin’s, daughter Madeleine was so excited about the wedding and wanted to spend the whole time with us. She even told us she was going to put a picture of us in her locket!”
Just because everyone has a cake doesn’t mean you have to. I loved this tower of French Meringue cookies that are Justine’s favourite. {She really fell in love with them while in Paris}
When it comes to first dances, to me they are usually slow and we get great photos. But this first dance, You are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne, we got RAD photos it was fast and slow and Justine and Amos truly loved to and wanted to dance. When their dancing was over the floor was packed right away with their friends and family. I’m sure that the floor was rockin ’till the wee hours of the night.
Advice from the BRIDE: Do it how YOU want to do it, make it about you and prioritize those things that are important to you. The process involves a lot of accommodation of other people so it helps to start with a plan you are really excited about!
Congratulations Justine and Amos! I wish you many, many years of happiness and a fantastic honeymoon in Greece and Turkey!

Thanks to Sam who helped me photograph the day.
I really do love the little details in a wedding. Especially as a photographer it just adds to your photo album and your memories of the day. This has always been one of my favourites because unless you’re showing the bottom of your shoes off it’s kinda a secret. Just so cute.
Just a few little decals to add a little sparkle to your shoes! You can pick up the stickers from your local craft or stationery store.
I love this idea of having your bridesmaids sign the bottom of your shoes. I remember reading somewhere that a good game is to have them all sign your shoes and at the end of the night the signature that is the darkest {cause you know you’ll be dancing a lot} will be the next to get married!

What a gorgeous day for a wedding and what a fantastic couple we had to photograph. Alessa and Anthony first met each other at the Maximo Park concert at Richards on Richards in Vancouver. Anthony who has traveled a lot and is originally from Ireland, the selection of Doolin’s Irish Pub as their first date was a good choice.
The ceremony was beautiful at St. Augustine’s Church. Their favourite memory from the wedding day was seeing each other all dressed up at the church for the first time. There was one unexpected moment for Alessa on the wedding day that happened when Anthony went in for a french kiss in the church! Alessa’s favourite colour is purple, {something I learned at their engagement shoot} and with the little touches of different shades of purple really brought everything together. I asked them to describe the day in three words and I love their answer, “Magical. Perfect. Unforgettable.”
I think the most important advice and something every bride and groom has to remember is what Alessa says, “Don’t sweat the small stuff!” Thank you to the bridal party and Alessa and Anthony for letting us be a part of your day. You both were so happy and I can’t wait to show you even more photos!!
Just a few touch-ups from Alessa’s girls before the ceremony starts.
Joanna got this great exit photo of Anthony and Alessa in the bubbles.
The gorgeous ladies on the right and a typical Saturday afternoon at the beach on the left.
Ahem, if you were in the area of Sunset Beach this day you would have seen a lot of glitter flying. I’m still finding it in my camera bag! But I do love the photo in the top right with just that touch of sparkle.
Alessa, you looked absolutely stunning.
You know I always like a good running photo!
This may be one of my fave photos, the beauty of the bridal party and Vancouver all in one!
There’s always time for a few candids!
When the sunshine is just in that perfect spot, we can get magical photos. LOVE it when that happens.
We also loved the vintage car. Gorg.
I loved the first dance tune choice. Lovesong by Adele.
Congratulations Alessa and Anthony! I wish you many, many years of happiness and a fantastic honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas !
