Styling Sons of Anarchy Engagement with Tiffany + Mike : Daydream Weddings

When I met with Tiffany and Mike to talk about their wedding, we also talked about their engagement session. The first thing I tell my couples is that I want them to have fun with their engagement session. Not every couple wants to be in a field or walking through a park for their photo session. I want their personality to shine through, most of all for them to feel comfortable and to enjoy the day!

When the three of us were discussing their session they mentioned their favourite TV show Sons of Anarchy. It’s a show that they don’t miss, they have the soundtracks and Mike’s bike is similar to Jax’s. Without a thought I said, “let’s do it!” That’s where the first part of their session came from. It was the perfect day too, not to hot and just a little overcast. Can’t wait until their wedding in August!

Believe it or not no Photoshop here, I didn’t delete any people! We were pretty much alone in the square where the Olympic cauldron is.

Sonya + Jon = Married | Vancouver Wedding Photographer

It was a beautiful day for a fall wedding. I had been looking forward to Sonya and Jon’s wedding all year the beautiful decor was all ready, the bride was all set and the room was waiting at the end of the aisle. There were smiles and tears during the ceremony and throughout everything you could just feel the love from Sonya, Jon their friends and family. It was an amazing day, one that I was so happy to be a part of.

Instead of a first look with the groom, I did a first look with Sonya’s dad. I love the first image, right when he saw her come out of the brides room. LOVE.

The singing talent in Sonya’s family is crazy! She sang to her new hubby and it was amazing. They were then both serenaded by her Mom and Dad, we were all smiling, just to be in the presence of that much talent was inspiring.

Nicole + Riadh = married || Daydream Weddings

It was our first Sunny day in July and Stanley Park was packed! Nicole and Riadh were married in Paris and came to Vancouver for a family reception at the Fish House in Stanley Park. The day was beautiful, Nicole looked stunning, in a dress she designed, and Riadh charmed all of us. They were only here for a few days after the wedding before they headed home to Dubai.

I said, “okay you’re going back to palm trees, you have to get some photos with our West Coast trees!”

I love Nicole’s bouquet. The peonies were perfect and all the different shades of pink were gorgeous.

They just have a classic elegance to them. Plus they laugh a lot together that just makes me smile on a wedding day.

Sex and the City feet with Glass Slippers…All girls get that right?

Pale pinks were the colour of choice. Since they were married in Paris I added the Eiffle Tower to the invitation, the favour boxes had wax seals with their initals stamped in. The most delicious chocolate truffles were inside to the delight of the guests.

I loved the fireworks that Ridah and Nicole had for their cake. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before!

As the sun set we took a few more photos around Stanley Park. How can you really pass up this view?!

Fairy tale magic || Stylized photos || Amy Williams Photography

Welcome to a wonderful world, my favourite land of styled shoots. In this land I can let my imagination go wild work with different vendors from all over the lower mainland and have an exciting/fun shoot. Everyone can do a shoot like this, in my wedding world I call them RE-Wear the Dress. I’ve never “trashed a dress” I like to think of these sessions ones that we can have fun with while you get to wear your wedding dress again and best of all you don’t have to get to your reception!!

I’ve had this shoot on my mind for awhile now and even when I was planning it I didn’t foresee the photos come together this beautiful. I started talking to CC Roa of Roa Floral and Event Designs. We both love being creative and I fell in love with the bouquet she created for Little Red Snow White. {we rolled both characters into this shoot!} Not only were the white roses beautiful with hints of red just around the top of the petals but she wrapped the bouquet in a gorgeous gold and red silk ribbon.

Next what every girl wants a gorgeous dress. I, being a wedding photographer as well, browse local designer sites often. I have adored the custom and local designs of Ellebay Bridal Boutique. They seem to have pulled some of their dress designs right out of my imagination! When I was in the store I could see different shoots for so many of their dresses! They are in the New Westminster bridal district and the dresses are made right there in the store by a great mother and daughter team. I met first with mom Merly and then when I took the dress back after the shoot I was able to meet daughter Gabrielle. They are so sweet and Merly knew which dress she wanted me to use as soon as I explained the shoot. I couldn’t agree more it was perfect!

Last but not least, the cape. I needed a cape! I’ve never been to Watt’s Costumes but I had serious costume envy when I went to pick up the cape! Put it this way I can’t wait to go back for the next shoot!! It could be Halloween on other days than October 31st, pick a theme, throw a party and grab some costumes. Hmmmm I may just have to do that this summer! My last stop was to Costco to pick up the giant bag of apples, {all but one have been now consumed by myself!} Oh and Anna {Little Red Snow White} stopped at Sephora {swoon} and had her makeup done. We all agreed that she must buy some red lipstick it just looks awesome on her.

On the shoot night I had the Dowbiggin sisters helping me out. Kelly and Shannon are friends and also along that creative line that I find myself walking a lot. It was bloody brilliant to have the sisters helping me, placing props, holding gates open and of course taking care of Gerome {he was quite the diva}. Thank you to all of you for a beautiful shoot and I can’t wait till the next one! Contact me for more details about RE-Wear the Dress shoots too!

Running to find her prince before she takes a snooze. Anna was the perfect Little Red Snow White!

This is my favourite photo!

Ummmm yes the bird is real…And I didn’t sequel with delight when I saw it at Watt’s Costumes!!

Of course some outtakes – Gerome getting all hot and flushed from a kiss. Kelly and Shanon making sure it looks good on the bridge, our first stop. We know Kelly is a little on the vertically challenged side but this is just crazy!! I hope you all enjoyed this session as much as I did planning and shooting it. Let me know if you have any ideas and they may just turn up as a styled shoot!!
